Sapper Bryan Clark was an advocate of Models for Heroes who joined the modelling sessions at Help for Heroes in Colchester. Bryan quickly became known for his ambitious, large and beautifully engineered dioramas.

In late 2018 Bryan was taken from us by spinal cancer leaving a wife and two children. Bryan attended as many modelling sessions as his medication would allow. Even during Bryan’s late stages he continued to make models at home and in care.

Bryan’s spirit and enthusiasm for model making inspires the competition it has been named after.

This annual model making competition is for beneficiaries of Models for Heroes who have attended any modelling session or received referral facilitated by Models for Heroes.

The aim is to celebrate the positive power of hobbies by spotlighting modellers that have made progress through craftsmanship both psychologically and socially.
